Wonderful exhibits. Some are fixed while some are rotated to keep things fresh. Good layout for getting around. Finding parking during warmer months can be a challenge. Groupon often has discount tickets available. Didn't take long to get through entire museum. While most staff are friendly, some hover over your shoulder almost expecting you to breathe too strongly in the direction of any of the works. Very creepy.

Big focus on modern art so not really my kind of museum. Cool layout but glad we went on free Friday because I wouldn't have been happy if I had to pay when we didn't stay very long.

They are very picky about taking photos. But they do have a large number of paintings. They do change their art work very often. Fun fact The Museum's collection includes more than 22,000 artworks, dating from the 18th century to the present. The PMA's collection features works by artists including Winslow Homer, Marsden Hartley, John Marin, Louise Nevelson, Andrew Wyeth and John Greenleaf Cloudman. The Museum has the largest European collection in Maine.

I love going to art museums in some of the smaller cities around the U.S. and seeing some great art, and this place did not disappoint. A good collection, and it is well-curated. Nice pieces both inside and outside, as well as a historical building attached to the museum where you can see a bit of the past in Portland, which was fun. A good addition for art lovers for any trip to Portland!

Almost fully accessible- the top floor is not, but all of he rest is easily wheelchair-able. I had trouble finding the wheelchair entrance, but except for the heavy doors, the front door is accessible. A wonderful place to spend a few hours (free on Friday afternoon!). A nice cafe on the bottom floor.
