The dining room is well appointed and comfortable. We sat at the bar and watched the chef and his staff execute perfectly prepared dishes. Smooth, fast and flavorful.

This place really takes the cake! I usually reserve five stars for places that really dominate an area. The kind of places that once you go you can't pass them up on subsequent trips...

Delicious tapas sized plates of out of the ordinary foods. Wait staff is exceptional. Pick your times, smallish place that fills up fast. I tried 4 different times but place was filled. Finally struck gold on Monday eve at 5ish. Will definitely return.

One word of caution: if you don't come early, there will be a long wait. Grab a drink elsewhere or meander the Old Port in the mean time -- the wait is well worth it.

Well worth a drive and a wait and every darn penny you'll spend. Try the shift shell crab!

My wife and I sat at the counter by the kitchen. We got to see each delicious plate come out. And the food was great. Fresh, creative combinations that tasted scrumptious. We got 6 plates for two of us, 5 would have sufficed. The staff were very efficient; at times I wished they would speak with us more or just seem a bit less rushed.

Central Provisions is a cozy eatery located in the heart of Portland. My friends had been urging me to go for weeks, and I finally got around to it last night. It did not disappoint. Four of us split six small plates and all walked away full. The cheese plate and the bread plate were pleasant palette wetters. The spicy beef salad -- prepared with beef tar tar, cilantro, and a generous helping of some type of hot spice -- was one of the best dishes I've had all summer. And, the bone marrow toast was so good that we had to order it twice. What's more, the dinner did not break the bank. Including tip and four beers, the meal cost roughly $30 a head.

If you are debating coming here your only real question should be how long is the wait?

Central provisions delivers exactly this kind of experience, the venue is cozy and. A bit small but staffed by friendly people and you can even sit at the bar and watch some of the food prep. Even if you don't watch the chefs work their magic, it's clear this place knows it's stuff when your tapas come out as soon as they're finished and practically jump down your throats to your stomach! The food here is prepared for presentation, flavor, texture and hits off on all the major notes I love.
