I recently visited their new studio from out of state for a Saturday night party. It was my first time at Aquarius Ballroom Dance Studio. From the outside, it is modest looking building with the studio marked on the outside door. But when I went inside, it was a good-sized dance space with a decent parquet floor, nice mood lighting, a long row of practice mirrors, and a quality sound system. In other words, all the essentials that matter the most. The admission was reasonably-priced, the people were nice & friendly and there were plenty of people to dance with at all levels. They played a well-rounded mix of Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha-Cha, East and West Coast Swing, Salsa, Samba, some Texas Two-Step, Quickstep, Bachatta and some party line dances thrown in for good measure. I had a great time and will visit them again the next time I'm in town!

"Though we do have people and women of that age in our classes I would not take a chance to guarantee they will show up this weekend, be single or be interested in dancing with these guys who have not started their training yet. So let's pass on inviting them to my studio. They will be better off going to some bar."

I cannot speak for the studio, but was not impressed with the correspondence I had. I've been competitively dancing for eight years. I had a few friends - all male - who were VERY nervously interested in trying ballroom dance as well, so I contacted this studio to make sure they'd be welcome and that they'd be able to dance with girls around their own age.

This is completely inappropriate and exactly the sort of attitude that keeps prospective dancers out of the dancing world. Acting as if a few nervous guys (some of them gay, by the way...) are automatically looking to pick up women is inappropriate, not to mention unwelcoming. None of the many studios I have been with across the country have ever behaved this way.

The response I received, in relevant part:

We've had two lessons with Sergi and learned so much. He is an excellent teacher and great at making effective use of time. As beginners, he made us feel completely comfortable and truly met us where we were. We really enjoyed our lessons and are coming back for more! Highly recommend.

Needless to say, this studio lost a lot of potential customers.

Thank You S for working with my wife and I to choreograph our 1st dance. Your patience and focus on patterns kept us moving across the dance floor and wowed our guest. Your service is exceptional, reasonably priced and always filled with laughs and focused instruction.

Loads of fun.
