Because of our experience the night before we weren't expecting much.

BOTTOM LINE: Chance it here for breakfast but skip it for dinner. We were so bummed out considering all the great places Portland has to offer.

I went there for both dinner then breakfast. We had a voucher for both and seeing that it was rated 5 stars on google we were excited to go. I wanna start off by saying both servers we had were PHENOMENAL. Super friendly and attentive. I am going to break it down between dinner and breakfast because they were very different experiences.

Hands down our favorite place to go in Portland for drinks. Great ambiance, delicious martinis, attentive staff. Ben is our favorite bartender there- he always treats us with the same pleasant deference as he treats the big spenders at the other end of the bar, even though we usually only have one drink. The drinks are reasonably priced- they may seem expensive in comparison with some other places but they are twice the size of drinks at other places AND they give you a free cheese and cracker plate if you ask for it.

Pros- He got 2 eggs any style with a side of meat and I got the Belgian waffle. We were both very pleasantly surprised when both dishes were delicious. They are super attentive and your water and coffee are never empty.

Dinner:

Cons- Mold in the jelly when we opened it. Most likely a fluke but yuck.

Nice place inside the Regency Hotel.

Cons- The place was empty. I got the bell and Evans chicken and he got the gnocchi and roasted butternut squash. I was SO disappointed with my dish (bell and Evans). The fettuccine was hard and clumped together. The white wine sauce looked like dirty water and didn't taste like anything. Chicken was breaded lightly and charred in some areas. I have never had such a bad pasta dish before. His gnocchi was slightly better, he said it was edible but not fantastic. I tasted it and agreed. Such indulgent sounding ingredients how can they taste so bland? I barely touched my plate and the waiter asked my boyfriend how his was (his plate almost empty) but not me, probably because he knew it was disgusting. We spent our $70 voucher and then another $25 for drinks. So not worth it.

Pros- The cranberry bread they bring to the table is yummy. We started with the crab cakes and they were good. Decent wine selection. Waiter was very nice. The place was empty.
